Stonehenge, Rock and Pillar Range
At 1380m of elevation on the summit plateau of the Rock and Pillar Range, Stonehenge is an aptly named rock formation surrounded by extensive tussock lands. In winter, it's a paradise for snow-shoeing and cross-country skiing. I visited the place shortly after a southerly blast in June 2009. After scouting the site in bright daylight, I took advantage of the full moon to walk to the rock by night, then took photographs through the dawn and the sun rise.
